Army Commander Warns: Pakistan May Try Pahalgam-Style Attack Again, Op Sindoor 2.0 Will Be Deadlier

Western Army commander Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar warned that Pakistan may attempt a Pahalgam-style terror attack again, but said India’s response — dubbed Operation Sindoor 2.0 — “will be deadlier.” The remarks came while addressing an ex-servicemen rally and reinforce the Indian military’s stance on firm retaliation against cross-border terrorism.

The comments follow the May Operation Sindoor strikes launched after the deadly Pahalgam attack in April; Indian officials maintain the operation demonstrated jointness and readiness across services and warned against further provocations.

Senior defence leaders have also framed the operation as a message that Pakistan’s ability to carry out or sponsor attacks will be met with robust and calibrated military options. Analysts say such statements are intended as both deterrent and domestic reassurance.
