📌 Important Information about Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds)

Location:
Hawa Mahal is located in the heart of Jaipur, Rajasthan, near Badi Chaupar in the Pink City area.

Built By:
Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799.

Architect:
Designed by Lal Chand Ustad, inspired by the crown of Lord Krishna.

Architectural Style:
A stunning example of Rajput and Mughal fusion architecture—constructed with red and pink sandstone.

Unique Features:

953 small windows (called jharokhas) that allow cool air to flow through (Venturi effect).

Designed to let royal women observe street life while staying unseen, in line with purdah system.

Purpose:
Built as an extension of the City Palace, not for residence but for royal ladies to watch festivals and city life.

Structure Details:

Five stories high, but only the façade is prominent—there are no stairs, only ramps.

Resembles a honeycomb or beehive from the front.

Entry Timings:

Open daily from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Entry Fees (as of 2025):

₹50 for Indians

₹200 for foreign tourists

Best Time to Visit:
October to March, when the weather is pleasant.
