On August 11, 2025, Bengaluru Metro achieved a significant milestone by recording a daily ridership of 10,48,031 passengers, marking the first time the system surpassed the 1 million mark in a single day.

This surge was largely attributed to the inauguration of the Yellow Line, which commenced operations on the same day. The Yellow Line, a 19.143 km elevated corridor, connects RV Road in Jayanagar to Bommasandra, passing through key areas like Electronics City. This addition brings the total operational length of Namma Metro to 96 km. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) reported that the Yellow Line alone accounted for 52,215 passengers on its debut day. The inauguration was officiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the line is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in southern Bengaluru, benefiting over 800,000 commuters daily.
