During his state visit to the United Kingdom on September 18, 2025, President Donald Trump engaged in lighthearted banter about the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence. Addressing tech leaders, including Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Trump remarked that AI was "taking over the world" and expressed hope that tech executives understood it better than he did.
The occasion marked the signing of a significant $350 billion "Tech Prosperity Deal" between the United States and the United Kingdom. The agreement aims to foster collaboration in areas such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and civil nuclear energy. It is expected to create approximately 17,500 jobs, with 15,000 in the U.K. and 2,500 in the U.S.
As part of the deal, major tech companies have pledged substantial investments. Nvidia announced its commitment to deploying 120,000 graphics processing units across the U.K., marking its largest European rollout. Additionally, Microsoft unveiled a $30 billion package—the company's largest-ever investment outside the United States—while Google promised $6.7 billion for AI research and infrastructure over the next two years.
The agreement also includes plans to fund 12 advanced nuclear reactors in Northern England, which will supply power to 1.5 million homes. Furthermore, the U.S. and U.K. will collaborate on AI research, chip and data center exports, and quantum technology, with annual follow-up discussions starting in 2026.

While the deal has been lauded for strengthening international alliances and enhancing technological and energy independence, it has also faced criticism. Some critics argue that the agreement may prioritize corporate interests over public welfare and could lead to increased monopolistic practices in the tech industry.
Despite the serious implications of the agreement, President Trump's humorous remarks about AI added a lighthearted moment to the proceedings, reflecting his characteristic blend of levity and leadership.
