In a heartwarming move ahead of Raksha Bandhan 2025, the Madhya Pradesh government has announced a special ₹250 ‘shagun’ (gift) for over 1.27 crore women enrolled under the Ladli Behna Yojana. The amount will be credited in July 2025, in addition to the existing monthly assistance of ₹1,250.

This initiative, introduced by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, is an example of how the state is aligning social welfare with cultural festivals. The aim is to enable women—especially sisters—to celebrate Rakhi with respect, dignity, and independence. Starting October 2025, the government will further increase the monthly aid to ₹1,500, with a long-term goal to raise it gradually to ₹3,000 per month by 2028.
