Rajasthan HC Orders Closure of 86,000 Unsafe Classrooms in Government Schools

In a major development for school safety in Rajasthan, the High Court has ordered the closure of more than 86,000 unsafe classrooms in government schools across the state. The order mandates that these classrooms be locked and children not be allowed to enter.

The bench of Justices Mahendra Kumar Goyal and Ashok Kumar Jain passed this order on Friday following a government survey conducted after the Jhalawar school roof collapse in July, which tragically killed seven students and injured eight others.

Earlier this year, the roof of a government school in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar collapsed, killing 7 students and critically injuring 8

The court also directed the state government to provide suitable alternative arrangements to ensure that the education of students in affected classrooms is not disrupted. This move aims to prevent further tragedies and improve infrastructure safety in schools.
