Nvidia CEO Disappointed Over China Chip Ban Report

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has voiced disappointment following reports that Chinese regulators ordered major technology companies, including ByteDance and Alibaba, to stop testing and cancel orders for the company’s AI chips.

The ban reportedly targets Nvidia’s RTX Pro 6000D processors, a high-end chip designed for artificial intelligence workloads. The move underscores Beijing’s broader strategy to reduce reliance on U.S. technology amid growing trade tensions and regulatory scrutiny.

Speaking to reporters, Huang said he was “disappointed” by the development but stressed that Nvidia could only operate in markets that welcome them. “They have larger agendas to work out between China and the United States, and I’m patient about it,” he added.

The Chinese government has not officially confirmed the ban but emphasized that it remains open to dialogue. Analysts say the move could significantly affect Nvidia’s access to one of its largest potential AI hardware markets while accelerating China’s push to develop domestic alternatives.

The chip dispute reflects the escalating U.S.-China tech rivalry, which is reshaping global supply chains, AI adoption, and the semiconductor industry.
