The newly created Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL) will oversee four core divisions: model development, AI products, infrastructure, and foundational research through its FAIR lab. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has significantly ramped up spending, projecting $66–72 billion in AI-related capital expenditure, including large-scale data center expansion. To strengthen its position, Meta is hiring top AI talent from rivals like Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic. However, the rapid pace of restructuring has sparked internal discontent and leadership churn, with reports of tensions between long-standing employees and newly recruited high-profile executives. Despite these challenges, Meta’s strategic reorganization highlights its determination to move beyond social media and emerge as a leader in superintelligence and next-gen AI systems.
