Jaipur Police Arrests Influencer for Distributing Alcohol on Nirjala Ekadashi

Jaipur, June 18, 2025:
In a controversial incident that stirred strong public emotions, Jaipur Police have arrested a local social media influencer after a viral video showed him distributing alcohol on Nirjala Ekadashi, a significant Hindu fasting day.

📹 Viral Video Sparks Outrage

The video, which rapidly spread across social media platforms, showed the influencer handing out alcohol bottles to a group of people in a public area on Nirjala Ekadashi—a sacred day when many Hindus observe strict fasting without even drinking water.

The act was condemned by several Hindu organizations and religious leaders who called it a deliberate provocation and an insult to religious sentiments.

🚔 Police Intervention

Following mounting public pressure and formal complaints from Hindu groups, Jaipur Police registered a case under sections related to hurting religious sentiments and promoting public disorder. The influencer, whose identity has not been officially disclosed yet, was taken into custody late Tuesday evening.

🗣️ Authorities Speak

All accused have apologised publicly for their actions.

A senior police official said,

“We take any action that disrupts public harmony or disrespects religious beliefs very seriously. The individual involved will face legal consequences.”

The police are also investigating whether the act was part of a publicity stunt or part of a monetized social media campaign.

⚖️ Legal Consequences Ahead

The accused may face charges under Sections 153A and 295A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which deal with promoting enmity between different groups and deliberate acts intended to outrage religious feelings.

📌 Conclusion

The incident has reignited debates around the role of influencers, social responsibility, and respect for religious customs in India. With increasing scrutiny on social media content, this case could set a precedent for how far is too far when it comes to online popularity.
