In a dramatic escalation amid rising tensions with Israel, Iran has executed three individuals accused of spying for Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, according to state media.

The executions, carried out in the northwestern city of Urmia, come as part of a sweeping national crackdown during a recent 12-day conflict with Tel Aviv. Iranian authorities claim the executed individuals were involved in smuggling surveillance and assassination equipment into the country. Alongside the executions, security forces have reportedly arrested over 700 individuals suspected of collaborating with foreign intelligence or participating in sabotage activities. Officials described the crackdown as necessary to protect national security amid what they called "unprecedented levels" of foreign infiltration. While Israel has not officially commented on the executions, international observers and human rights organizations have expressed concern over Iran’s growing use of capital punishment in espionage and political cases.
