International Troops Unlikely to Enforce Gaza Peace, Warns Jordan’s King Abdullah II

Jordan’s King Abdullah II has warned that international troops will likely be reluctant to enforce peace in Gaza amid ongoing conflict and humanitarian turmoil. Speaking during a recent regional discussion, the King emphasized that sustainable peace cannot be achieved through external military intervention alone, but rather through a comprehensive political solution addressing both Israeli and Palestinian aspirations.
King Abdullah highlighted the dangers of deploying foreign troops in Gaza, noting that such a move could intensify regional resentment and further destabilize the fragile situation. “No country wants to send their soldiers into a volatile conflict zone without a clear mandate or end goal,” he said, cautioning that enforcing peace through external force would only deepen existing tensions.
The King reiterated Jordan’s stance on the need for an immediate ceasefire, increased humanitarian access, and a renewed focus on the two-state solution as the only viable path toward long-term stability. He also urged the international community to shift its attention from short-term military responses to long-term peacebuilding efforts that ensure security, justice, and dignity for both Palestinians and Israelis.
The comments come as global powers debate post-war governance in Gaza, with proposals including international peacekeeping forces or joint Arab oversight. However, King Abdullah’s remarks underline the skepticism many regional leaders share about the feasibility of such plans without meaningful political commitment from all parties involved.
Jordan, a key player in Middle Eastern diplomacy and one of the few Arab states to maintain a peace treaty with Israel, continues to advocate for de-escalation and humanitarian relief for the people of Gaza. The King’s statements serve as a reminder that peace cannot be imposed — it must be built through dialogue, mutual respect, and genuine political will.
