India to Send Envoy to COP30 Leaders’ Summit; Environment Minister Yadav to Follow

India is stepping up its engagement in global climate diplomacy ahead of the COP30 (30th meeting of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) by sending a high-level envoy to the Leaders’ Summit segment. The Summit, traditionally attended by heads of state and senior ministers, will see India represented initially by its ambassador in Brazil, while Minister Bhupender Yadav will join the delegation at a later stage.
This move comes as India emphasises adaptation, implementation of climate commitments, and equitable climate finance in the run-up to COP30, scheduled to be held in Brazil.
