Honey-Trap Gang Busted After Robbing Businessman of ₹4.5 Lakh
In a shocking crime case from Nagpur, Maharashtra, police have arrested three members of a honey-trap gang accused of robbing a young businessman of valuables worth nearly ₹4.5 lakh. The victim, 23-year-old Yuvraj Tiwaskar, was reportedly planning to start a garment business and had been receiving repeated phone calls from an unknown woman for several days. Eventually, she convinced him to meet her at Kukde Layout in Nagpur.
When Tiwaskar arrived at the location, he was allegedly surrounded by gang members who threatened him with a knife. The accused snatched his gold ring, gold chain, silver bracelet, mobile phone, laptop, motorcycle, and other valuables. The gang then forced him into a vehicle and drove him to his rented residence in Butibori, where they allegedly compelled him to hand over ₹2 lakh in cash. The total loss suffered by the victim was estimated at around ₹4.5 lakh.
Following the complaint, Ajni Police launched an intensive investigation using CCTV footage, eyewitness accounts, and vehicle registration records. Within a short period, officers arrested three accused identified as Manish Chaudhary, Tarun Rangari, and Akshay Chaudhary. Police also recovered crucial evidence linking them to the crime.
Investigators believe the operation was part of a well-organized criminal network. Two suspects, including alleged mastermind Gaurav Ragde and his associate Roshan alias Bhavesh Warkhade, are still on the run. According to police officials, Ragde has a serious criminal history involving murder and attempted murder cases. Authorities suspect he provided the phone used by the woman who lured the victim into the trap.
Police are now working to identify and locate the woman who initiated contact with the victim, believing she played a key role in executing the scheme. The case has raised concerns about the increasing use of social engineering and honey-trap tactics by organized criminal groups targeting unsuspecting individuals through phone calls and social media.
Authorities have advised citizens to exercise caution when meeting unknown individuals and to verify identities before arranging personal meetings. The investigation remains ongoing, with efforts focused on arresting the remaining suspects and uncovering the full extent of the gang's activities.
