Beware! Fake Job Scams Rising on WhatsApp and LinkedIn – Youth Most Targeted

In recent months, fake job scams on WhatsApp and LinkedIn have surged alarmingly across India and globally. These scams usually start with a random message or job offer from an unknown number or a fake recruiter profile. The offer often sounds too good to be true — "Work from home", "Earn ₹2,000–₹5,000 per day", or “Hiring for reputed MNCs like Amazon, Flipkart, or Wipro”.

Once the victim shows interest, the scammer poses as an HR executive or recruiter and asks them to pay a registration fee, interview scheduling charge, or training deposit — ranging from ₹500 to ₹10,000 or more. Some victims are asked to complete small tasks or share personal details like Aadhaar, PAN, or bank info, which are later misused.

In some sophisticated cases, scammers even conduct fake interviews and send offer letters with company logos, making the scam look genuine. Many youth and fresh graduates fall for these tactics due to job urgency and limited awareness.
