The aircraft, a Boeing 737 MAX, had 173 passengers and 6 crew members onboard. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud boom and seeing flames near the rear of the aircraft. In response, pilots halted the takeoff and initiated a full emergency evacuation using inflatable slides. Passengers were seen rushing away from the aircraft as smoke billowed. One person suffered minor injuries and was hospitalized. Fire crews promptly extinguished the blaze, and the FAA has launched a full investigation. American Airlines thanked the crew for their swift action and arranged an alternate flight. The incident raises serious concerns over aircraft safety and maintenance standards.
