After 44 Years, June Rain Breaks Record: 3 Inches in Just 2 Hours Causes Chaos

New Delhi:
June 2025 brought a weather surprise not seen in over four decades. For the first time in 44 years, the city recorded an intense downpour of 3 inches (76 mm) of rain within just 2 hours. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), this is the heaviest June rainfall since 1981.

The sudden rain led to widespread waterlogging, severe traffic disruptions, and power outages across several areas. Meteorologists attributed this unusual rainfall to moisture-laden winds from the Arabian Sea combined with atmospheric pressure systems. IMD has forecast more showers in the next 24 hours and advised citizens to remain cautious and check weather updates before stepping out.
