Acid Attacks in India: Reality Behind the Numbers and Rising Concerns

Acid attacks remain a disturbing form of gender-based violence in India, with the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) reporting an average of 200 cases per year. However, according to NGOs and independent researchers, the real figure may be much higher—crossing 1,000 annually, due to severe underreporting, social stigma, and lack of support for victims.
