The 135th birth anniversary of B. R. Ambedkar was marked with major welfare announcements and developmental initiatives in Rajasthan. On this significant occasion, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma unveiled a series of measures aimed at empowering underprivileged communities, promoting education, and strengthening social welfare systems.
One of the key highlights of the announcement was the establishment of 200 Ambedkar e-libraries across urban areas of Rajasthan. These digital libraries are expected to improve access to educational resources, especially for students from economically weaker sections. By leveraging technology, the government aims to bridge the digital divide and provide equal learning opportunities to all. The initiative aligns with Ambedkar’s vision of education as a powerful tool for social transformation.
In addition to this, a new residential coaching centre will be set up at Ambedkar Peeth in Jaipur. This centre will cater to students preparing for competitive examinations, offering them quality guidance, accommodation, and academic support. The move is expected to benefit aspirants from marginalized communities who often lack access to structured coaching facilities.
Another major announcement made on the occasion was the transfer of ₹1,363 crore directly to beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. This financial assistance was distributed under various welfare schemes, including social security pensions and the Palanhar scheme. The DBT mechanism ensures transparency and eliminates middlemen, allowing funds to reach beneficiaries efficiently and directly into their bank accounts.
The Palanhar scheme, in particular, plays a crucial role in supporting orphaned and vulnerable children by providing financial assistance for their upbringing and education. Similarly, social security pension schemes offer essential financial support to the elderly, widows, and differently-abled individuals, ensuring a basic standard of living.
These announcements reflect the state government’s commitment to inclusive growth and social justice. By combining educational initiatives with direct financial support, the administration is taking a holistic approach toward upliftment. The focus on digital infrastructure, skill development, and welfare distribution demonstrates a forward-looking governance model.
The occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti serves as a reminder of Dr. Ambedkar’s enduring legacy and his contributions to equality, justice, and education in India. The initiatives announced not only pay tribute to his ideals but also aim to carry forward his vision in a practical and impactful manner.
In conclusion, Rajasthan’s announcement of 200 e-libraries, a dedicated coaching centre, and ₹1,363 crore welfare transfer marks a significant step toward empowering marginalized sections of society. These measures are expected to create long-term positive impacts on education, economic stability, and social development across the state.
